Radio Telescope Making Competition - Understanding Radio Astronomy

 

As part of The Cosmic Fest 2026,  this event challenges students to design a working model of a radio telescope while identifying a problem in radio astronomy and presenting a possible solution.

The competition will be held on 24th April 2026 and is open to engineering students from second year onwards. Each team must consist of 4 students from the same engineering stream. Colleges may send teams from multiple streams, but only one team per stream per college will be accepted.

Registration must be completed only by the college coordinator through the official form. The last date for registration is 20th March 2026.

Before the competition, an online meeting for coordinators will be held on 23rd March 2026, followed by an online workshop on radio telescopes for participants on 25th March 2026. After the workshop, teams will begin building 80% of their models at their colleges and bring them to the venue on 24th April 2026, where the final 20% will be completing under the observation of eminent scientists from Indian Space Research Organization, etc.
